John Barbour opened his first store in South Shields in the North East of England in 1894, selling outerwear for sailors, fishermen and dockers to protect against the worst of the North Sea weather. The iconic collection of waxed jackets that made Barbour a household name, have become staple modern garments that are functional, versatile and effortless to wear. The modern collections still pulls inspiration from the brands history but has made some contemporary changes and tweaks bringing the new collection into the modern day world of menswear.
